Proud to Represent...

Dear Freddie,
Hello and Happy September!!
How are things going?? Any plans for the last
long-weekend of summer? Hmmm???
As you know, at this time of the year we are on
the road a lot doing all the various shows all
over Canada. Normally when we are on the road
Dixie goes up to Kamloops and spends some quality
time with my parents. She loves it up there!! But
last week we had the Thomas Cook show in Calgary
and we were only going to be gone for ONE night so
we decided to try the Jet
Pet Resort@ YVR.
Have you heard of it? According to their website
it's a pet-centered resort & spa. Yes, I said SPA.
Pretty fancy, eh?
I did a suprise site-inspection beforehand, and
the place looked great (heck, I would even stay
there in a pinch haha), but I was a little bit
nervous about leaving Dixie there, because as cute
as she is, she does have her issues (don't we
all). She has a very dominant personality and that
sometimes causes problems with other dogs.
I think it went fairly well. At least we didn't
receive any panicked calls from the staff telling
us to come pick her up immediately, so I'll take
that as a success!!
One of the cool features is that they posted
photos of Dixie on their facebook page. It was so
great being able to see her enjoying her time at
the resort and mingling with the other "guests". I
would recommend Jet Pet Resort and I give them a
thumbs-up if you have clients with dogs (or cats).
So anywho...I would like to ask a favour of you.
Normally I wouldn't dream of using this newsletter
for personal gain, but...
I
entered a "What's
your funniest travel story?"contest
with National Car Rental and there is a potential
grand prize of 350,000 airline miles. The last day
of voting is Tuesday, August 30th and I'm
currently in the lead, but just by a hair. Do you
think you could send a vote my way??? Thanks, love
ya mean it. Click HEREto
vote.
Sincerely,
Freddie Marsh, CTC

MAKE
YOUR CLIENT'S WEDDING A TRUE LEGACY AT REAL
RESORTS
Partnering with the City of Joy
Foundation
Real Resorts is offering couples and their
guests the opportunity to turn their special
occasion into a true legacy for a
child. Partnering with the City of Joy
Foundation (Fundacion Ciudad de la Alegria),
Real Resorts is inviting couples to create a
Legacy Gift Fund to help educate a child.
One of City of Joy'smissions is the Mano Amiga
School for children. The
school, which operates kindergarten through high
school, helps to educate more than 1,300
children each year whose families have an annual
income of less than $450 per month. The
school and City of Joysupport individuals and
families who live in Cancun and the state of
Quintana Roo. These
people often work in the hospitality industry
but find themselves coming up short in
supporting their family's needs.
The cost of educating one student at Mano Amiga
School is $25 USD per month. Couples
donating towards this cause will receive a
commemorative plaque in their honor signed by
student representatives and a letter twice a
year from a sponsored student. If they choose,
they can also arrange to visit the school, and
will be commemorated at the school with an
engraved 'blessing plaque' noting their wedding
date and names.
For
the past several years we have joined our
colleagues in the travel industry in supporting
The City of Joy's important work," said Fernando
Garcia, Managing Director of Real Resorts. "It
is truly a pleasure to now have the opportunity
to create this legacy program for our many
guests who celebrate weddings and other special
occasions with us. I
cannot think of a more worthwhile way to
commemorate an event and make a difference in a
child's life. The
idea of a Legacy Wedding Gift Program was
suggested to us by several of our guests who
said they were not in need of traditional
wedding gifts and wanted to do something to
share their good fortune and provide a way for
their guests to do something meaningful. It
brings us much joy to provide this wonderful
opportunity," added Garcia.
Guests wishing to create a Legacy Gift can work
through their travel agent or their Wedding
Planner at Real Resorts. In
addition to the couple making the Legacy
Donation, Real Resorts can set up a Bridal
Registry for the couple so that their wedding
guests can contribute to the legacy as well. For
more information on the Legacy Wedding Gift
Program and the wide variety of wedding
celebrations available at Real Resorts please

HULA
PIE
Duke's Beach House
The next time you have clients staying at Honua
Kai Resort & Spamake sure you let them know
to try the HULA PIE at Duke's Beach House
Restaurant, which is located on property.
The hula pie is legondary and it is big enough
for two (maybe even three or four) to share, and
is sooo good. The best way to describe it is a
rich mud-pie topped with macadamia nuts. Mmmm....macadamia
nuts!!!
Duke's is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and
cocktails. It has a fun vibe and the seafood is
delicious.

AMBASSADORS OF THE ENVIRONMENT
A Maui Must Do
One
of the highlights on our recent trip to Maui was
a sea-kayaking and snorkelling excursion
provided by the Jean-Michel
Cousteau's Ambassadors of the Environment
Program.
Their office is located on
the grounds of the Ritz Carlton up in Kapalua,
which is only a 10 minute drive from Honua
Kai Resort & Spa. Our guide/naturalist Kevin
was an amazing guy. He looked after every little
detail and was a great source of information.
Did you know that most commerical sunscreens
include highly toxic chemicals that harm marine-ife
and especially sea-turtles??? I had no idea.
From now on I will be much more careful.
On our excursion we went
sea-kayaking to a beautiful coral-reef area and
enjoyed some incredible snorkelling and I even
saw a sea-turtle swimming about 3 feet from me.
It was great!
They have an extensive
program and I hope you recommend them to your
clients when they are staying at Honua Kai
Resort & Spa.
