OK, so are you a
SUPER BOWL or an
OSCAR fan? Or BOTH?
It is after the
Holidays...the bills are coming in...but there
still are things to look forward to in the
dead of winter, besides all of those sun
destination bookings...
I know that some people can't wait for their
nacho-dripping, beer-guzzling, *burping*,
yelling, cheering, "what a stupid call!"
afternoon with testosterone-filled good
friends. While others prefer the evening of
red carpet "what was she thinking wearing
that?", star watching, "I didn't see that
one", Meryl again(?), evening with other
movie-loving pals. (Of course I know we have
the Grey Cup, but admit it...most Canadians do
enjoy these events happening on the other side
of the border.)
Which side are you on? I'm betting that you
can guess that I came out years ago on the
side of the Golden statue. In fact, we
started hosting an Oscar party over a decade
ago, after attending Oscar parties for years.
The party hosting duties rotate between us and
3 other couples each year. We have 2 rules
for the evening:
1. All of the food has to be
nominated-movie-themed. Last year the food
featured Blue Jasmine Rice, American cheese
Hustle hour d'oeuvres, Frozen cocktails, Tang
orange drink (Gravity) and of course stale
movie popcorn.
2. Everyone has to turn in a ballot and vote
on all 24 awards. We award a prize every year
for the person with the most correct guesses.
Our record was set last year with 3 people
getting 22 out of 24! Of course, some of our
ballots look like a monkey picking randomly
could do better.
I can't wait for
the fabulous Neil Patrick Harris to host the
87th annual Academy Awards on the 22nd. You

I have 2
favourite places at the Hilton...One is the
O'West Lounge. It is a roof-top, adults-only
lounge that features an infinity pool, open
bar and sushi chef.
The other is the Ki Spa. My favourite
treatment is the Floatarium. You enter a
large open room, with a large sale-water
plunge pool in the middle. In this private
treatment, you immerse yourself in the warm,
buoyant salt water, and the staff turns down
the lights and turn on the soft music. They
put a noodle under your neck and legs, and you
just float. In the soft candle light, you see
the lights in the ceiling that twinkle like
stars, and you just relax. Because the salt
water is the same temperature as your body
temperature, when you close your eyes, and
your ears go below the water level, all you
can hear and feel is your own heart beating.
It is an amazing experience. They say that an
hour in the Floatarium is like a relaxing
night's sleep.
Be sure to make to remind your clients about
our onsite Ki Spa, where they can enjoy a host
of services all meant to provide you the
ultimate in relaxation and pampering,
including our Floatarium water experience. Of
course, all of the
Krystal Resorts properties have great spa
experiences also.
