Well, it is finally hot here in the Vancouver area. As we
usually don’t get more than a few days of heat, many condos
and houses do not have air conditioning in the lower
mainland. Our condo is in this category, and since our
windows face south and west, we get the sun on our floor to
ceiling windows all day long. This orientation is great in
the winter, but certainly not on our hot days in the summer,
that are getting more numerous. We end up cooking in a gold
fish bowl.

A few years ago, we got one of those portable AC
units. Having that in our bedroom allows us to cool down and
sleep during those hot nights. I decided to get another AC
unit for our office
I know these little AC portable units aren’t the most
efficient units, but if you seal the windows around the
exhaust well, they work pretty well for small spaces and for
a few days each year.
