Last month, I had the opportunity to
do “personal FAM” to the El Cid
properties in Mazatlan. Not only did
I get to see what was new on the
properties (see below), the staff
arranged for me to enjoy and
experience many of the new things in
the city that I hadn’t tried before
(see below).

It was great to have a few days to
explore and get updated with “what’s
new” at the 4 El Cid properties in
Mazatlan.
Having my fill of coconut shrimp at
the La Concha Restaurant at the El
Moro property is always an annual
treat when I’m on property.
|
|
Of course, the food and beverage
quality at the El Cid restaurants is
always excellent.
|
|
It was great to see the new beach
ramp for our guests in wheelchairs
to enjoy the beautiful and relaxing
beach at the Marina Beach
property. Also, guests needing
wheelchairs are provided a
wheelchair for no charge while on
property at the El Cid Resorts.
|
|
At the beautiful new Mazatlan
Aquarium, my colleague, Roberto and
I had a chance to snorkel in the
main tank, mingling with the various
sharks (nurse, lemon & silkies).
|
|
Also at the Aquarium, we had a
chance to enjoy the Penguin
experience. We had a chance to feed,
pet and observe a few trained
Humbolt penguins, who are there to
assist in the important education
mission of the aquarium. This was a
reasonably priced experience (~$15
USD) that all tourists and local
guests could enjoy.

I had heard about the hike up to the
(Faro) Mazatlan Lighthouse for
years. On this trip, I was talked
into trying the hike . I took it
slow, and after many switch backs
and then 336 steps, I was rewarded
with amazing views of all of
Mazatlan. A highlight was walking on
the glass ramp extending over the
side of the mountain. I do recommend
that you do the hike early in the
morning, as we did.

Finally, I had a chance to attend a
Mazatlan baseball game! In Mazatlan,
baseball is king! It was great to
root for the home team, and seeing
so many locals and some tourists
enjoying the family-friendly
evening.
|
|
